Police has detained Controversial former Political Intelligence Unit boss Charles Rwomushana over the picture he posted on social media alleged to be dead body of Independent presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi’s head of security Christopher Aine.
Rwomushana was invited to Special Investigations Division, Kireka on Thursday 07/01/10 at 1630hrs to assist in providing information in respect to the matter being investigated.
One the same day, The Red Pepper Chief editor Ben Byarabaha and Dickson Mubiru, Kamunye managing editor were also summoned over the same issue. The two were detained but managed to secure police bond last night.
The picture which dominated social media debates on Thursday forced Aine’s relatives to swing into action. The relatives stormed Central Police Station, Kampala demanding information about Aine’s whereabouts. They also checked Mulago mortuary in a bid to confirm if he is dead.
Amidst the saga, Aine’s sister Ms Ritah Babirye Aine, said the photo of the dead body was Aine. She opined that her brother has a scar above the eye which he got in an accident and a gap between the teeth; these features were visible on the pictures of the dead body that was circulating on social media. However, the family later refuted Babirye’s arguments.
Police has on many occasions denied being behind Aine’s disappearance while Mbabazi camp says police arrested him.
