The Uganda Police have warned of a plot by a gang whose intention is to unleash terror in the capital city Kampala urging the general public to be extra vigilant.

In a statement issued on Monday afternoon and signed by Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba, “The plan involves a group of thugs either on foot or boda-boda riders attacking and burning petrol stations and buildings in the city especially business premises.”

The police have also issued a warning against those planning to unleash terror in the city saying they will ‘have nobody to blame when the law finally catches up with them’.

This is the umpteenth police has issued a terror alert.

Last month, police recalled all its officers who were on leave and issued a red alert after the American embassy in Uganda sent a notice to its citizens, warning of a possible Westgate-style attack in Kampala.

Uganda has never been the same since twin explosions targeting football fans at a restaurant and rugby club in Kampala, Uganda, on 11 July killed 76 people and seriously injured dozens more. The Somali Islamist group al-Shabab, which has links to AL Qaeda, claimed responsibility.

It is the same group that claimed the recent September 21 attack on Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, where armed militants stormed the facility, shooting to death more than 60 people and injuring hundreds others.

PRESS RELEASE:

Police last evening received information from credible sources of a plan by a group of people to unleash terror attacks in the city today Monday 09/12/2013.

The plan involves a group of thugs either on foot or boda-boda riders attacking and burning petrol stations and buildings in the city especially business premises.

As Police hunts down the thugs, and takes precautionary deployment in all petrol stations and in the city especially in the central business districts (CBDs), we appeal strongly to proprietors of public places especially petrol stations and business premises to be extra vigilant particularly do not allow strangers near your premises, urgently report to the nearest Police station, security official or LC official of strange movement.

Meanwhile, we warn whoever is involved in this terror plan especially the youths who have been deceived and prepared to carry out the attack to reconsider and abandon the criminality and evil plans otherwise you will have nobody to blame when the law catches up with you.

  1. Precursor to a Lukwago and Besigye arrest with no right to bail. Relatives will not know where they ar ebeing kept. I’m afraid they will be driven around the country. I pray they do not end up the way Kifefe’s brother (RIP) did; God forbid.
    Just watch this space.

  2. But some of us don’t have relatives who own fuel station, Where will we get fuel without being called strangers
