At the Supreme Court this morning, the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago fully robed together with other Lawyers started submissions in the #AgeLimitConstitutionalAppealbefore a panel of seven (7) Supreme Court Justices.
They are led by the Chief Justice Bart Katureebe; others are: Hon. Lady Justice Stella Arach-Amoko, Hon. Justice Eldad Mwangusya, Hon. Justice Rubby Aweri Opio, Hon. Lady Justice Prof. Lillian Tibatemwa Ekirikubinza, Hon. Justice Paul Kahaibale Mugamba and Hon. Justice Jotham Tumwesigye.
On July 26 last year, the Constitutional Court sitting in Mbale District, in a majority decision of 4:1, upheld the scrapping of the presidential age limit clauses from the Constitution by Parliament.
The same court in a unanimous decision struck down the extension of the term of the current Parliament and local councils by two years.
