Rakai Killers Will Be Arrested – M7

President Yoweri Museveni has visited Rakai district, the scene of several brutal killings that have seen 13 people lose their lives in a space of one month.
Since January this year, 13 people have so far been killed in separate incidents in Rakai district according to the police. The most prominent killing happened on January 12th when unknown assailants attacked the home of Steven Mugamba of Kyebe Pentecostal Church killed him together with his eight family members.
After the killing of nine people in Kyebe Sub County, four more people including an elderly 80 year old woman were killed in separate incidents in Kirumba Sub County and Kakuuto sub county under similar circumstances.
Like the Kyebe killings where nine people were killed, the assailants drilled a hole into the house of Urita Nabasagi, a resident of Kyakaleera village in Kirumba Sub County,and killed her.
Addressing residents at Kifamba Church of Uganda on Sunday, President Yoweri Museveni said he was concerned about the brutal killings taking place in central Uganda. He called for calm and promised that the killers would be pursued and brought to book.
President Yoweri Museveni blamed the Judiciary for the escalating killings. He explained that he was surprised that some of the suspects arrested in connection with murders are always released on bail. Museveni said this is a big mistake because it gives thugs liberty to continue committing the same crimes.
Museveni therefore asked Members of parliament to support his call for an amendment to scrap bail for capital offenders like murder suspects, defilers, rapists, treason suspects and corruption suspects saying this would address such crimes.
MP Mathias Kasamba of Kakuuto County asked Museveni to boost security along Uganda-Tanzania border to restrict influx of foreigners. He argued that the laxity in security is gives criminals liberty to cause insecurity in Rakai district.
Rose Nabakooza,the Rakai Criminal Investigations officer, told Uganda Radio Network in a separate interview that police had gathered important clues in the killings. She declined to divulge the clues for fear of jeopardizing the investigations. She said six suspects had been arrested so far in connection with the killings.

Thanks to the President, previously I thought that may be the president was not aware of the laxity in our courts of law especially as far as releasing hardcore and dangerous criminals on bail is concerned. I am happy when the president suggests to amend our constitution so that murderers, rapists, defilers, corrupt officials are never given bail.I I also previously requested the president through this same portfolio to set up a special crime crackdown force directly headed by a special army commander or controlled by the court martial to handle dangerous cases and execute murderers, armed robbers, corrupt officers eg Mukula, Kazinda, Kajjubi, Butalimbwa squad etc, the way wembley did under Kayanja. I suggest a no mercy officer like Mr. Kasirye Gwanga. Anybody proved by the court martial as being guilty, should be put on firing squad directly, this will save us the daily human sacrifice, manslaughter, Butalimbwa and other terrorist acts. Otherwise our country is becoming more dangerous to live in than Afghanistan and Iraq combined. Thanks once more to the president, now I feel strong that our president is a father of a Nation too.
Museveni is indeed getting short sighted the older he gets, am 100% sure Museveni will need this thing called bail some day. I always wonder when he calls for an amendment to scrap bail for capital offenders like murder
suspects, defilers, rapists, treason suspects and corruption suspects
saying this would address such crimes. NEVER
