Recruit Thumps UPDF Captain Over Heavy Exercises

By Serestino Tusingwire

A recruit who turned up for Monday’s UPDF recruitment exercise was detained after he punched one of the recruitment officers.

The young man yet to be identified was among over 1500 graduates and Senior Four leavers who turned up at Kololo Airstrip to enlist in the military.

After participating in the mandatory run of 5 laps, he broke down and assaulted the recruitment officer at the rank of Captain.

He was arrested thus missing out on the recruitment.

However this didn’t deter Col. Jeff Mukasa Cupa who is in charge of the recruitment from going ahead with the exercise.

Col. Mukasa noted that they need over 600 recruits including 200 engineers, 200 doctors, 100 Airforce and IT personnel in addition to 10 lawyers and 100 infantry personnel from Kampala.
