Moses Samson, son of Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) exiled officer Col Samson Mande last night died at Mbarara Hospital, the father revealed today morning.
“With deep sorrow I regret to announce the passing on of my first son; Mande Moses. He died in Mbarara hospital last night. More details about his death and burial arrangement will follow soon,” Mande said today morning.
He added by quoting Job 1:21; “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord… May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace.”
Col Mande fell out with President Museveni’s government and fled into exile in Sweden in 2002, where he is still living after several arrests and incarceration in military cells and secret detention chambers.
He is among the core officers of the National Resistance Army (NRA) that fought the 1981-86 bush war that brought President Museveni to power.
Mande has been accused of being behind People’s Redemption Army (PRA), a rebel group formed in early 2000s, an allegation which he denied.
