9 Barrels and Old Glen Whisky Hit Market

By Moses Miiro Premier Distilleries Ltd (PDL) have become the first company in Uganda to blend and produce Scottish whisky. The Kawempe based manufacturers have started producing two top brands of 9 Barrels and Old Glen whisky. The two brands were launched at Hotel Africana last week by Vivo Energy Boss Gilbert Assi.

Gordon Ratcliffe a business development manager for Angus Dundee distillers PLC Middle East and Africa said it is the first time to blend and produce such successful brands in Uganda. Ratcliffe appreciated PDL for the best processing plant installed in Uganda and assured the Ugandans to expect the best products from Premier Distilleries Ltd. Sitaram Reddy, PDL Managing Director appreciated Ratcliffe for giving his company and Ugandans an opportunity to serve the best whisky (9 Barrels and Old Glen) to the citizens. Reddy added that this will promote investments in Africa and will provide the best whisky to Ugandans at affordable prices. The retail price for Old Glen is UGX35,000/= per 500ml bottle while 9 Barrels will cost UGX 50,000/= per 750ml bottle. 9 Barrels and Old Glen are available in all bars and agents across the country
