Sodomy Suspect Mubiru Charged

Former Sports Club Villa manager, Christopher Mubiru was on Monday arraigned before courts of law and charged with sodomy related charges.

Mubiru appeared before Buganda Road Court and denied the charges of having carnal knowledge against the order of nature. He is accused of sodomising one Emmanuel Nyanzi in Mengo, Rubaga Division in Kampala in December 2009.

Presiding Chief Magistrate Olive Kazaarwe released him on a cash bail of Shillings 3 million and he returns to court on February 5 for mention of his case.

His two sureties included; Abudallah Mugalu and Irene Nabawanuka.

While releasing him on bail, court also considered Mubiru’s faithfulness in attending police bond terms as a ground for his bail.

Mubiru allegedly fled the country over a year ago after nude photos and videos from a stolen laptop were published in a local newspaper and showed him allegedly having sex with young men, some of whom were his players.

The charging of Mubiru comes barely two weeks after Parliament passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill that is intended to punish those found guilty of engaging in same sex.

The Bill is yet to be assented to by President Museveni.
