Ssimbwa Joins Soana

By Vicent Kakooza

Well-traveled football coach Sam Ssimbwa has joined Uganda Premier League side Soana FC as the new head coach on a two year contract.

This is after he fully served the eight months suspension from FUFA for utterance of words deemed to put the game in disarray.

He replaces Charles Ayiekoh who resigned from the job in the middle of the week citing interference with his work from club owner Smart Obedi.

Speaking to Pepper Sport on Friday evening, Ssimbwa confirmed joining the Kavumba based side and promised to take the club to greater heights.

“It’s true I have joined Soana on a two year contract and I’m ready to work,” he revealed.

His main task is to better the fifth position which Ayiekoh and his boys attained.

Last season he was assistant to Mike Mutebi at KCCA before he was suspended.

Ssimbwa has previously handled big clubs like SC Villa and Express in Uganda as well as in the CECAFA region.

Soana kicked off the new season with a barren away draw against newly promoted Onduparaka under care taker coach Sula Kato.
