On Friday evening, Hotel Africana Poolside was crowded to capacity as the giant pay-tv player Startimes unveiled their new channel as well as celebrating their 5th anniversary.
The channel 104 NBSSTAR has been designed and programmed to cater for local content on top of their other channels dedicated to the same content.
The content shall rotate around comedy, movies and lots of Luganda entertainment.
Aldrine Nsubuga, the Chief Marketing Director at Startimes smiled with facts that the company is boasting of an overwhelming growth.
He noted that they now have over 60,000 subscribers something he attributed to affordable pricing as well as value added channels.
“We are the first company to offer the prerequisites from the regulator. We are allowed to have a 40% of content locally developed. This means we shall always see our numbers grow because we know what our subscribers want,” noted Nsubuga.
The event was blessed by NBS TV boss Kin Kariisa as well as officials from Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) led by Ag. Executive Director Patrick Mwesigwa.
Rena Nalumansi kept the guests busy throughout the evening with her sweet melodies.
