President Museveni has asked his supporters to stay at their respective polling stations tomorrow after casting their votes.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential while addressing a mega rally at Kololo Airstrip yesterday, Museveni asked voters to witness vote counting and declaration of results.
“Go and vote for the old man with the hat. Stay at the polling stations until our tallied results are announced,” Museveni asked supporters.
Museveni’s statement disputes the words of Inspector General of police Gen. Kale Kayihura, his right hand man who earlier said that voters will not be allowed to stay at the polling stations.
Kayihura said they should go home after casting their ballots.
“No one else has a job at the polling station after voting. We don’t want any chaos on polling stations,” Kayihura said recently.
Like Museveni, leading opposition candidates Kizza Besigye and Amama Mbabazi have asked their supporters to stay at polling stations to witness vote counting and thwart any manipulation scheme.
Museveni promised expansion of Northern Bypass and more flyovers in Kampala and the Mpigi-Mukono railway line.
