KISORO: Tension brewing as District Health Officer’s home is sealed-off by soldiers, RDC Mugisha refutes claims

Kisoro – Capt. Peter Mugisha the Kisoro Resident District Commissioner (RDC) has disclosed that security is to carry on investigations of over claims that the home of the District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Steven Nsabiyumva was, on Monday evening, cordoned off by Army officers..

Capt. Peter Mugisha says that this follows media reports where Dr Nsabiyumva claims that he on Monday night went into hiding following information that armed forces were patrolling his home in Gatovu village, hospital ward in Kisoro Municipality and wanted to arrest him.

He revealed that he was not aware of any deployment at the home of Dr Nsabiyunva as he says

“Security has commenced into the allegations that the home of the district health officer Dr Nsabiyunva was besieged by UPDF soldiers on Monday night wanting to arrest him I don’t know of any deployment of such,” Capt. Mugisha said.

“He was accusing me to have sent the soldiers. Let’s wait for the truth will come out but me what I know I never sent them for what”. Further said Mugisha.

He says that he can’t use the army to settle differences with any person their are set channels when he is aggrieved to use to settle any conflict but all what he knows he has no problem with Dr Nsabiyunva.

Dr Nsabiyunva in his phone call to kisoro FM on Monday night he said that went In hidding after neighbors alerted him that his home had been surrounded by armed UPDF officers allegedly sent by RDC Rtd. Captain Peter Mugisha.

Dr. Steven Nsabiyumva’s sahs rhat after the neighbors telling him he called the secuirty guard at his home who told him that he was seeing some armed men patrolling around his home that was when he called the LC5 Abel Bizimana who told him not to go home but get else where to sleep.

The conflict between the two has forced the kisoro LCV Abel Bizimana to quit the district task force saying that he is not going to engage in any activities of the covid19 fight in the district till the two mediate their differences as they are the ones that are key on the fight but are fighting each other over money as for him he is not facilitated as those that are facilitated are fighting each other.

He says that he is not going to keep on the taskfoce where LCV are just ceremonial as they have no decision making powers because they are not facilitated at all while his health workers in the district keep on suffering.

The bad blood between the RDC Mugisha and DHO Dr Nsabiyunva stems from a disagreement about who should pay the 6 district drivers who are working day and night on corona virus surveillance and support.
