Fred Muwema, one of the leading lawyers representing former Prime Minister who is contesting for Presidency has said plans to arrest Amama Mbabazi ahead of tomorrow’s presidential nominations have been finalised.
Muwema who was speaking at a press conference at Go Forward campaign headquarters on Plot 29 Nakasero Road in Kampala said there is a plan to charge Mbabazi with alleged murder, money laundering and spying for a foreign country.
“We have received information that there is a plan to arrest our client Amama Mbabazi,” Muwema said, adding; “They plan to charge him with alleged murder, money laundering, and spying for a foreign country.”
He said lawyers have written to the Director of Public Prosecution to confirm if it’s true and requesting that investigations must be done in a transparent and open manner.
He added that “the timing of these allegations is not accidental, neither is it coincidental.”
Muwema confided those supporters coming to Nakivubo tomorrow should not be worried.
He said a team of 500 lawyers to offer free legal services to those arrested is in place.
Mbabazi will be nominated tomorrow morning at Namboole by The Electoral Commission and be unveiled at Midday at Nakivubo where he is going to launch his campaign manifesto.
