Cranes coach Micho Sredejovic has led the Cranes in search of a 14th Cecafa title reeling on the back of professional strikers Daniel Sserunkuma of Gor Mahia, Yanga’s Hamis Kiiza and Tusker midfielder Khalid Aucho were included in the 20-man Cecafa squad that will attempt to defend the regional title.
The team flies out to Nairobi today with the tournament kicking off on Wednesday and opens up against group-mates, nemesis Rwanda with whom Cranes drew goalless in a friendly in Kampala
Uganda are also grouped alongside Eritrea and Sudan.
“I will make sure I try to get the team ready for action in the remaining few days,” explained the Serb, who will also be using the tournament to prepare his team for the 2014 Africa Nations Championship in South Africa.
The coach explained the hosts Harambee Stars of Kenya, Ethiopia and the COSAFA champions Zambia are the teams to reckon with at the tournament.
“We shall try to play the best kind of football as we move forward because there are bigger things ahead,” he added.
The tournament to be played in three Kenyan towns of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu will take center stage from November 27 to December 12.
