Uganda Cranes Start Training Ahead Of Ghana Clash

Uganda Cranes coach, Micho Sredojevic, is increasingly confident he can lead Uganda to the Promised Land.

The Cranes kicked off preparations on Monday with three days of non-residential workout for the local based players still in pre-season for the Nations cup group stage qualifiers against Ghana and Guinea.

Seven players including Isaac Isinde, Savio Kabugo, Robert Ssentongo, Miya Farouk, Allan Kyambadde, Ochan Benjamin and Brian Bwete under the watchful eye of head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic turned up for the gym work session at Acacia Mall, Kisementi continue to train at Namboole today morning.

The team will then regroup for residential training from 29-31 before flying out on September 1 for a warm up game with West African side Niger the following day.

Micho also announced a 25-man provisional squad for the Ghana game that has the bulk of the team that claimed a 1-0 away victory over Mauritania in the previous game.

Meanwhile, he Uganda Cubs also regrouped at the FUFA technical Centrein Njeru on Monday as they prepare for U17 African Nations Youth Championship qualifier against Zambia on 13th September.

According to the team’s media officer Emma Nduga, some boys missed out because they are still with their respective schools while others had some minor knocks. Out of the 27 summoned players, 22 were available for the session with captain Andrew Okiring Isiagi still caught up with studies in the US while Mukalazi Musa, Okakworo Chris and the other two goalkeepers Mwirusi Ali and Kasibante Edward all missed out yesterday’s training.
