Uganda Cranes, Tanzania Clash In CECAFA Semi final
Unbeaten CECAFA Tusker Cup champions Uganda Cranes today face Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro stars at Namboole stadium in the tournament’s semi-final with all teams seeking to book their places in the final on Saturday.
The two sides will be face off at this stage in the competition for the third time in a row after meeting in 2010 and 2011. Uganda won the encounter 3-2 last year while Tanzania won the 2010 clash 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
Despite the Cranes scintillating form, Coach Bobby Williamson who is seeking his third CECAFA title since he became coach has revealed he will not take anything for granted when the two sides clash.
Uganda cranes beat Africa Cup of Nations bound Ethiopia on Tuesday 2 – 0 to qualify for the semi-finals while the Kilimanjaro stars hammered Rwanda.
Hamis Kiiza and Robert Ssentongo who have since impressed in his last two starts of the competition are expected to maintain their places in the team.
Tanzania based striker Emmanuel Okwi is expected to feature if Brian Umony who was stretchered off the pitch in the 2-0 win over Ethiopia in the previous game fails to pass a late fitness test.
In the early kick off, Kenya’s Harambee stars take on Zanzibar in the other semi-final that will begin at 4pm while the cranes – Tanzania game kicks off at 7pm.
