Uganda To Get UGX2 Billion FIFA Cash This Year

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa) has confirmed that they will get over UGX2 billion from the World governing body FIFA.

Decolas Kiiza, the head of Finance at the Federation confirmed said that all 209 football associations across the world will get a share of a grant to be released this year.

Uganda will receive the usual annual grant of Ugx 675 million ($250, 000) together with the 2014 World Cup bonus of Ugx 1350 million ($500,000).

The Head of Finance explained that the Ugx 810 million ($300,000) will also be sent to all FA’s that will enter the 2018 World Cup qualifiers whose last date for entry is January 14th 2015.

He however said he is not certain when the money for teams that enter the World Cup qualifiers will be sent.

In a letter to FIFA members signed by the secretary general, Jerome Valcke last month, FIFA confirmed that all these decisions were made following the FIFA Executive Committee meeting in Marrakech, Morocco last December.

But Kiiza explained that although all this money will come from the World governing body, they will still need more money from sponsors and the government to run the different activities.

The Federation made a budget estimate of close to UGX10 billion for its activities this financial year.

Although the national team, Cranes will not be very active in 2015 apart from playing friendly matches and the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, the federation will also spend money on the youth team that will play in the All Africa Games and Olympic Games qualifiers.
