Ugandan Clubs Ready for Genocide Volleyball Championship

Ugandan Volleyball Clubs have already confirmed their participation in the coming 20th edition of the Rwanda Genocide Volleyball Championship schedule for June 6 to 7, in Kigali the capital of Rwanda.


Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC)  , Sport S, national league champions KAVC and Nemo Stars are the front runners tipped to raise the Ugandan flag high in the tournament.

Sport S that scooped a bronze medal in the men’s category during last year’s edition together with VCC whose maiden appearance yielded them the fourth finish under the women category will be anticipated to stage up a warm competition with other regional clubs mainly from the hosts, Rwanda.

According to VVC head coach Hannington Nsubuga, he believes his side has got all the capacity to win the annual memorial accolade.

“I believe we have the capacity  to  win this forthcoming  genocide title, my girls have been training hard and our  focus is to go and put up a better performance compared to last year’s edition,”  he said.

Rwanda clubs will include, the 2013 shocking tournament champions Inatek, army side APR, Rayon Sport and St Aloys for the men’s category they will have Rwanda Revenue Authority side, (RRA)  APR and Ruhango

Clubs to feature in this year’s genocide volleyball tournament will come from six regional countries that is; Uganda, Burundi, Dr Congo, Congo Brazzaville, South Sudan and hosts Rwanda.

About 50 members of the Rwanda volleyball fraternity were murdered in the historical Rwanda genocide in 1994
