The Rushenyi County Member of Parliament and National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Naome Kabasharira, has assured her supporters that adequate security arrangements are in place to safeguard votes during the forthcoming general elections.

Addressing journalists in her New Year’s Eve message, Kabasharira urged voters to remain confident and turn up in large numbers to vote for leaders of their choice on January 15, 2026, without fear or intimidation.

Kabasharira noted that the people of Rushenyi had entrusted her with the NRM flag for the constituency, calling on her supporters to remain united and rally behind her as she seeks re-election.

“January 15, 2026, is the election day to elect the President and Members of Parliament. I call upon my supporters to stand firm, rally behind me, and together we defend our flag. Let no one take this flag from us,” Kabasharira said.

She further reassured supporters that the ruling party has put in place sufficient security measures to ensure a peaceful electoral process and to protect the votes cast for its candidates.

“We are ready to protect our votes. Security will be intensified. I ask my supporters to vote confidently because no one will interrupt our election. Our party is set to provide enough security to ensure the process is peaceful and calm,” she added.

Kabasharira emphasized that the NRM is committed to a free and fair election, warning against intimidation and vote rigging.

“There will be no intimidation and no vote rigging this time,” she stressed.
