A brace by skipper Patson Daka was enough to help Zambia beat hosts Uganda 2-1on Saturday to qualify for the 2015 Africa U-17 Championship.
Daka who also scored in the first leg 2-0 win scored in the 19th minute and later on 67 minutes. Alex Komakech netted a consolation penalty for the hosts after 70 minutes after a Zambian defender had handled in the box.
The home fans at the Nakivubo Stadium tried to cheer the team to get more goals, but the experienced Zambian side played cautiously and defending in numbers. The Young Chipolopolo qualified on a 4-1 goal aggregate.
Zambian coach Chris Launda said he is happy that his team has qualified for the 2015 Youth Championship. He said his boys played well and should have won by a bigger margin. Mathias Lule, the Uganda Cubs coach said the Zambians had been superior in many aspects.
Uganda will now keep their fingers crossed as they await the verdict after they protested to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) that Zambia was using some over age players.
The 2015 Youth Championship will take place February 15 to March 1 in Niger.
