The Marathon is one of the activities that shall be held to mark the 60th Birthday of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II scheduled for April 13, 2015.

While handing over a dummy cheque to Buganda Kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga on Wednesday at the kingdom offices in Mengo, Stephen Mukweli, Post Bank’s Managing Director noted that amidst offering financial services to Ugandans, the bank has an obligation of responding to the daily needs of the society.

“Our mandate is to uplift the welfare of Ugandans through good financial services. However, when there’s a call for us to support communities, the bank always takes an upper hand,” Mukweli said,

“The kingdom should also play a vital role in advocating for better savings because a community that saves always has a brighter future.”

Mukweli added that last year, the bank loaned over Ushs100bn to the business community.

Mayiga applauded the bank, noting that the world is now being driven by corporate power and it’s through corporate social responsibilities that the gap between the communities and the corporate world has narrowed.

“The communities where you operate from shall understand that you do not only offer banking services to them, but you also remit back through numerous avenues. This will make your brand and services visible in such a competitive banking market,” Mayiga said.

The Kabaka Birthday Run is an initiative by the kingdom as a way of raising funds to alienate Fistula from the country.

Last year, over 1000 people took part in the run and over UShs50M was raised towards enhancing the Fistula Institute at Kitovu Hospital.
