NRM Polls: Molly Kamukama Stings Odoi Over ‘Wrong’ Results

Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President, Molly Kamukama

Kampala – The second runner-up in the controversial National Resistance Movement (NRM) polls for the Kazo District Woman Member of Parliament, has stung the party’s Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi for announcing the wrong results.

Mrs. Molly Kamukama, who is also the Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President and also former Principal Private Secretary to president Yoweri Museveni, made the remarks this morning, September 12, 2020 at home her home in Rwemikoma, Kazo District.

Addressing members of the press, Mrs. Kamukama who lost to Mrs. Jennifer Muheesi by only 87 votes, accused Dr. Odoi of deliberately delaying the release of the results for a number of days so his favored candidate wins.

“The people of Kazo decided and they know who genuinely won this election. Everyone tallied and the results they have show I won. This is why Tanga (Odoi) could not announce the results on Kazo grounds but from far away in Mbarara District and alone,” Mrs. Kamumaka revealed.

She further stung Dr. Odoi for allegedly ‘counting’ his own votes and not the votes cast by the people of Kazo and hastened to reveal that the chairman of the party who is also President Museveni has no hand in this.

“Tanga attempted to announce the wrong winner three times and failed. That shows you what he finally announced was false,” she said.

Mrs. Kamukama who sounded very confident that she is the rightful winner of the Kazo election revealed further that Dr Odoi refused to consider all the concerns that the rest of the candidates raised in a recent meeting with him which include controversial polling stations where they had evidence of vote-rigging.

She said she was confident that the NRM party organs and especially President Museveni would seek the truth from the people of Kazo and ensure the rightful winner is announced.

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi has declared Jenifer Muheesi as the party flag bearer for Kazo District Woman MP Parliamentary seat.

This website has been trying to reach Dr. Odoi in vain but going by what he announced on September 11, 2020, Mrs Kamukama came second with 16,715 votes followed by

Ronah Ruranga Kemirembe with 13,288. Ann Ruyondo followed with 9,039. The other candidates; Leonida Sanyu Tukundane got 2731, Hope Kajinja Mbabazi polled 1533 votes, Moreen Karugaba polled 1265 votes while Merab Kyamazima Milly only managed 1210.

“I, therefore, declare Jenifer Muheesi Abaho who has polled the highest number of polls as the duly elected flag bearer for Kazo District Woman Member of Parliament 2020,” Dr Tanga Odoi wrote after a multiple recount.

President Museveni, while meeting leaders in the hot spot districts of Kiruhura, Kazo, Sembabule and Isingiro early this week warned the perpetrators behind the electoral fraud in those areas will be prosecuted.

“The shallow crooks still think they can bribe, can intimidate, can assault or can, even, alter results of the obvious that was witnessed by hundreds. This is an incredible shallowness”.

He added:
“The cheating in the NRM Primaries is over. Those who beat People, like in Bukono, are all in jail or on the run. Minister Rukutana is in jail and will be prosecuted. They will be fully accountable with robust charges: assault, attempted murder, murder etc”.
Mr. Museveni then invited cheated NRM primaries participating candidates to come forward and pin those who orchestrated cheating.

“Those who altered results will go to jail on forgery, fraud, subversion etc. and their forgeries will not stand. We do not even have to repeat the elections, except where they were not held. We simply need to audit what happened in each village” he said.
