Over 60 Arrested in Police Operation Targeting Kampala Criminal Hubs
Jinja Road joint security team in Kampala has conducted a crackdown on different criminal gangs that have been terrorizing locals and travelers.
Several gangsters have been snatching phones and hand bags of travelers and locals returning from markets even on broad daylight.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson said the operations was carried out in the areas of Mutungo, Kinawataka, Mbuya, Bugolobi and the surrounding areas where hard core criminals were arrested.
In the operation 60 suspects were arrested where a number of them according to police investigations, once committed crimes and some exhibits like opium, breaking implements and suspected stolen properties were recovered.
“These operations are ongoing and we want to make sure we ‘clean’ the city,”
The screening was done and 50 suspects were taken to Nakawa court and charged with public nuisance.
