Ssendawula wins Tusker Uganda Golf Open

Peter Ssendawula claimed his second Uganda Open title at Entebbe Golf Club on Saturday.
Peter Ssendawula relished in his dream claiming his second Uganda Open title at Entebbe Golf Club on Saturday.
The Entebbe bred golfer posted a closing round 72 for a four-day aggregate of 288 he beat closest competitor Robert Oluba to the title by four strokes.

He teed off the closing round two strokes clear of Willy Kitatta and five ahead of Oluba had a dismal front nine holes.
“My next plan is gather sponsorship and turn professional. It has been a great tournament for me and very competitive,” Ssendawula said.
Defending Champion, Phillip Kasozi had a miserable tournament as he never even appeared in the top 10 finishers by the close of business on day 4. Perhaps, he won the best hole 18 (named Dan Nkata Drive) prize on the final day after returning 76 gross.
Pre-event favourite, another Entebbe based player, Willy Kitata who had won day 3 with a one under 70 score on day 3 lost his cool on the last day. He broke a club, deliberately double bogied the par 4 Ann Wykes Elbow Hole, much to the disappointment of the then growing gallery that was moving alongside the pressure group of Ssendawula, Robert Oluba, Henry Lujja and Kitata himself.
Vincent Byamukama from Entebbe also carried the professional event beat Kenyan Richard Ainley by six shots to claim the sh5.3m top cash prize courtesy of sponsors Tusker.
Tusker Malt lager and Entebbe Golf Club will be credited for the ultimate organization of the biggest Tournament on Uganda’s Golf Calendar.
The cool breeze off Lake Victoria naturally aerates the course, the unique roars of the lion, the singing birds and the monkey chants would dominate the tranquil woods of the Course, situated on close to 90 hectares of land.
