Cranes off to Botswana

International friendly

Botswana v Uganda
FIFA World Cup qualifier
Senegal v Uganda
National football side Uganda Cranes has left the country for Saturday’s friendly in Botswana aboard Kenya Airways at 2pm.

Micho Sredojevic’s side will play the South African nation in Gaborone in preparation for the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Senegal in the Moroccan city of Marrakech on September 7.
He however misses the services of Gor Mahia forward Dan Sserunkuma (wasn’t released by the Kenyan club), South African based Geoffrey Massa(work permit woes), and goalkeeper Abel Dhaira (injured though he played 90 minutes as Simba SC drew 2-2 with Rhino Rangers in their opening game of the 2013/14 Vodacom Premier League season).
“We are now going to concentrate on how to win the matches. We will not allow any other thing distract us. We are focusing on the plans,” said Micho.
Micho has named experienced wingers Joseph Kabagambe and Vincent Kayizzi on the team with likelihood of making the final team to face Senegal on September 7 in case they impress.
Immediately after the Botswana game, Cranes proceed to Istanbul, Turkey for a training camp where they will be joined by skipper Andrew Mwesigwa, Tony Mawejje, Martin Mutumba Kayongo, Henry Kalungi and Isaac Isinde.
Unlike Dhaira and Sserunkuma, Massa will also link with the team in Istanbul later.
