Okullu Jasper a security guard shot the suspect dead when he attempted to access the money point of Atyam and Brothers Company Limited. The company runs a Bell Lager depot.

Okullu Jasper narrated that he first heard someone trying to break into the depot by cutting off the roof of the warehouse.

He then called the depot manager Odongo Edward who immediately notified Police.

Aswa Region Police spokesperson Okema Jimmy Patrick confirms that they received a call from the depot management on the attempted break and two police officers were sent to the scene.

The Police spokesperson Okema defended Okullu’s decision to shoot dead the suspect. He said that police in the area will never show mercy to thieves.

Police recently indicated that the force would be pursuing a more aggressive shoot-to-kill policy in regard to armed robbers.

The depot is located on Labwor Road, opposite the UMFOR Microfinance Centre.

The depot is behind Jet Set Forex Bureau which was robbed by armed thugs in August 2013 of 40 million shillings.
