HEALTH: NDA Approves Marketing of Eloipharm (U) Ltd’s Elocof Syrup

The National Drug Authority (NDA) has authorized the advertisement of Elocof Cough Mixture as thousands of patients across the country testify to its effectiveness.

Stocked by several pharmacies, drug shops and clinics across Uganda, Elocof a medicine for cough, flu and sore throat is Manufactured and distributed by Eloipharm Company Limited.

In a letter addressed to the Director Eloipharm (U) Ltd, titled ‘APPROVAL OF PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS’ signed by David Nahamya, secretary to the authority and copied to Directors in charge of; Product Safety, Product Assessment and Registration, Inspectorate and Enforcement, Regional Inspector of Drugs and Drug Inspectors at the entry ports, NDA recognized that advertisement of Elocof following the authority’s vetting process.

‘’We have vetted the above promotional materials and established that the information provided is not misleading to the target audience. The adverts are hereby approved and permission granted to be aired to the public ‘’, reads in part a letter from NDA.

In another letter issued earlier signed by Juliet Awori Okecho addressed to Eloipharma (U)Ltd, NDA emphasized that Elocof Herbal Cough Syrup was evaluated and qualified , the reason it was placed on the list of Notified Local Herbal Medicines.

Partnered with several Pharmacies including Life-pharma,Kamcare ,Escorts, Swastik and Planet , Eloipharma (U)Ltd has distributed Elocof across the country following immense testimonies of effectiveness by the Ugandan market.

Dr.Lutoti Stephen, a Ugandan Senior Pharmacist and lecturer at Makerere University College of health sciences who formulated Elocof hailed NDA for improving the regulatory environment to ensure proper use of drugs.

Established under the National Drug Policy and Authority (NDP/A) Act, Cap. 206 , the core mandate of NDA is to ensure the availability, at all times, of essential, efficacious and cost-effective drugs to the entire population of Uganda as a means of providing satisfactory healthcare and safeguarding the appropriate use of drugs.
