A group of Youths under their Umbrella (Western NRM Concerned Youths) based in Mbarara have criticized the attempts of Anti-corruption protests at parliament led by a group of Gen-Z (young Youths) in Uganda.

They now say Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among is in grave danger and needs protection from President Museveni now or never.

Herbert Nangumya, the leader of Western NRM Concerned Youths told journalists during a press briefing on Monday, July 29 that as youths they need to dialogue with the government in fighting corruption rather than engaging themselves in protests and scuffling with security agencies.

Nangumya concurs with President Museveni that the anti-corruption protesters may have been funded by foreigners to cause mayhem in Uganda targeting some important figures in the government and as well causing instability.

He said that the anti-corruption protests are specifically targeting the speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among due to the fact that she led the Parliament of Uganda to fight against “foreign evil Anti-Homosexuality bill”.

Speaker Among has been tainted with allegations connected to corruption issues, including UK sanctions, something that has created a mixture of reactions among Ugandans.

However, the Western NRM Concerned Youths have put it against the foreign agents who are at the back of the poor youths aiming at blackmailing some of the big officials in this country including the Speaker.

That in Uganda today there is a high rate and growth of espionage where most of the Ugandans are on the payroll of foreign agents whom they give information about this country. He described the trend as ‘a very dangerous experience’.

“We request president Museveni to see how to protect the Speaker Among from the enemies because these protests are targeting her as an individual due to the fact that she is the one who influenced passing of Ant-Homosexual bill.

“We need to see the President intervening and see how he can engage the youths into  a dialogue because fighting corruption doesn’t involve parties , fighting corruption doesn’t involve religions, it doesn’t involve tribes, if the youths are concerned about fighting corruption let us come into dialogue and peacefully see how we can fight corruption,” Nangumya appealed.

He added: “We also need to know that these protests are not purposely on fighting corruption, there are so many other issues that are going to rise the moment we give room for these people to protest. Even if we take the Speaker [Among] away, just know that so many other issues will keep rising. We need to advise our fellow youths to see how they can deal without foreign funds because most of the foreign funders are using African youths in overthrowing their governments.”

Nangumya also believes that some of the opposition elements in this country have also contributed in fueling the anti-corruption protests for the sake of seeking public attention.

“We believe and realize that most of the opposition leaders and some opposition members of parliament were partially in support of the protests. But we need to tell Ugandans that fighting corruption is everyone’s responsibility.  Let’s see how we can give information to the state and then it will proceed with the investigations and finalize the fight.

But the big problem that we still have in Uganda it’s all about politics of relevance. Everyone wants to come out and appear on camera as if fighting for something. As youths let’s fight for the better Uganda not to destroy what is available, because anyone who wishes to see the bright future of Uganda cannot advise you to burn petrol stations cannot advise to enter the parliament and demolish something, let’s all work hand in hand with the government and add on what is available,” he stressed.
