SICK BUT NOT CRITICAL! Rwenzururu Kingdom Breaks Silence on King Mumbere’s Health
Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has moved to kill fresh social media reports claiming that Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is critically ill, insisting the monarch is stable and only in Turkey for a routine medical review.
The kingdom said Mumbere travelled to Turkey on the advice of his medical team for a follow-up related to treatment he previously received at the same facility.
In a statement, kingdom officials urged his subjects and the public not to panic over the reports, stressing that there is “no cause for alarm.”
“We wish to clarify that HM Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is not critically ill, contrary to reports circulating on social media,” the kingdom said.
According to kingdom spokesperson Geoffrey Kanyonyi, Mumbere left Uganda on August 27 and arrived in Turkey the following morning.
The latest trip comes barely six months after the Rwenzururu monarch returned to Uganda following a lengthy stay abroad for specialised medical treatment.
Mumbere first travelled to Turkey in October 2025 for treatment and returned to Uganda in December, where he continued his recovery from his Kampala residence.
He later resumed his official duties in March 2026 before making the latest trip for medical follow-up.
The kingdom’s clarification comes amid growing concern among his subjects after social media reports began circulating about his alleged deteriorating health.
Officials, however, insisted that the Omusinga remains in stable condition and that the latest visit should not be interpreted as a medical emergency.
The kingdom thanked the public for the prayers, concern and messages of goodwill directed towards Mumbere, his family and the wider Rwenzururu community.
At the same time, officials appealed to the public to respect the monarch’s privacy, particularly regarding his medical information, as he undergoes the routine review.
The clarification is expected to calm fears among Rwenzururu subjects who had been left anxious by the unverified reports.
For now, the kingdom’s message is clear: Mumbere is receiving medical follow-up, but he is not critically ill.
