Leader Ssendawula looking at Runaway win | Uganda Golf Open

Uganda Open teed off at the Entebbe Golf Club yesterday.
Day-1 leader ex-professional Peter Ssendawula is confident if all odds go his way today at Uganda Open at Entebbe Golf Club, he could win his second title in four years.

The 2009 winner took opening day proceedings, with a domineering opening round of three-under-par 68 to script a four-stroke lead, four strokes clear of second placed Robert Oluba, Patrick Mwaka and Ronnie Bukenya who tied 72.
“I have to keep calm and extend my lead today (Thursday),” the Entebbe bred golfer told RED Pepper Online in a telephone interview Thursday morning.
“Hopefully the weather favours me considering I didn’t have a bad score yesterday,” he added.
The other pre-event favourites Willy Kitatta, defending champion Philip Kasozi (76), Byaruhanga (2011 winner) were overshadowed on the opening day of the annual tournament that has attracted over 100 golfers.
Former amateur star Byamukama is atop the leaderboard in the professionals’ category with the day’s best round of four-under par 67.
