The Executive Director of Oxfam, Winnie Byanyima has sent a condolence message to the family of Kenneth Akena, a child protection specialist based in Kasese District, who was allegedly shot dead by Mathew Kanyamunyu, who is related to Winnie on Saturday evening.
Through her twitter handle, @WinnieByanyima, She tweeted on Monday morning saying: “My heart and prayers are with Akena’s family. Let justice be done. Matthew is my nephew. A tragedy for us too.”

It is reported that Akena was allegedly shot by Kanyamunyu after he accidentally knocked his car at Game Store parking lot and died moments after he was admitted to Novik hospital in Kampala.
According to police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kawesi; “Before he died, Akena said the two people (Kanyamunyu and Munwangari) who had rushed him to the hospital are the ones who shot him for scratching their car.”
“The deceased said he was reversing in the parking lot when he knocked their car. And that he was shot in the stomach when he got out of his car to apologize,” Kaweesi added.

Police yesterday arrested Kanyamunyu, the chief executive officer of Quantum Express Logistics, and his Burundian girlfriend, Cynthia Munwangari, to help with the investigations.
