Armed Robber Shot Dead, Detective Critically Injured at Kasangati Fuel Station

The territorial Police at Kasangati are investigating circumstances under which one person was shot dead and another left with serious injuries.

The incident took place on Saturday at about 9 am at AS Energy Petrol station at Kijabijjo village Kira Municipality Wakiso district.

The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire identified the deceased as Lotyang Paul, a security guard of Saracen security company.

It is alleged that Police received information of a possible armed robbery at AS Petrol station being carried out by their own security guard, the deceased.

‘’Our officers responded at the scene only for the armed security guard to shoot at Police Constable Sande Emmanuel while he tried to disarm him’’, said Owoyesigire.

Other responding officers would later retaliate by shooting putting the guard out of action.

Owoyesigire added that the body of the deceased was later conveyed to the city mortuary Mulago while PC Sande was rushed to Mulago hospital where he is currently admitted with serious injuries.

‘’Different police teams responded at the scene and exhibits were recovered, they have been submitted for analysis’’,Owoyesigire added.

Police says it has also established through various statements that Lotyang had put everyone at gunpoint demanding the manager to avail him the key to the safe where money is kept.
