Centenary Bank’s backed Team Sebuguzi wins UMC Fortportal city Rally 2024

Over the weekend, the UMC Fortportal City Rally 2024 delivered a thrilling spectacle that shifted the dynamics of the National Rally Championship (NRC) as Ronald Sebuguzi and co-driver Anthony Mugambwa seized victory.

The Shell crew had the Fort Portal Rally jinx to get off their back as well. And indeed, the crew scored more than they anticipated.

Sebuguzi with Anthony Mugambwa calling the notes recovered from their leg one mishap when the Ford Proto lost brakes and gained the advantage on their rivals’ misfortunes.

Going into the final leg, Sebuguzi was over a minute behind day one leader Joshua Muwanguzi. However, Muwanguzi’s broken suspension elevated Sebuguzi onto the leaderboard.

“The rally did not start well for us. We lost brakes in the first stage, and it cost us time. After that, all we wanted was to finish the event and secure some points,” said Sebuguzi.

“We are happy that on Sunday we didn’t have any issues which enabled us to win the event. And now we are back in the title contention,” he added.

Sebuguzi now sits second on the NRC leaderboard with 203 points.

Isaac Ssozi registered his best career finish securing a second position. He finished six minutes, seven seconds behind Sebuguzi.

Moustapha Mukasa once again proved he is here for podiums taking third place in Fort Portal.

Mukasa moved to the top of the NRC leaderboard with 224 points; 21 points ahead Sebuguzi.

In the Clubman Rally Championship, Musa Ssegabwe continued to woe rally fans with his entertaining performance.

Segabwe topped the Clubman category to hold firm on his title chances. In second position was Topher Kateera with Nasib Ssesanga in third.

Ibrahim ‘Pasuwa’ Lubega finished top in the Two-Wheel Drive category. Samuel Watendwa settled for second followed by Julius Semambo.

The sixth round of the NRC heads to Gulu district on the weekend of 11-13 October.
