Centenary MD Kasi Fabian Fires Up Rotary Charter Day: “We Exist to Make Impact!” As Mapeera Club is Born in Style

It was glamour, purpose and powerful speeches at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Saturday, 21st February, 2026 as the Rotary Club of Mapeera officially received its Charter in a ceremony that blended corporate vision with community service.

At the heart of the celebration was Fabian Kasi, Managing Director of Centenary Bank, who reminded guests that the institution’s roots are deeply anchored in transforming ordinary lives.

“Our founders’ dream was simple yet profound: to bring financial services to ordinary people and transform lives,” Kasi declared in his keynote remarks. “We don’t just exist to mobilise savings or provide loans. We are here to make an impact.”

Those words captured the spirit of the day — a corporate giant reaffirming that profit and purpose can walk hand in hand.

The Rotary Club of Mapeera Charter Day, organised by Rotary District 9213 and Rotary District 9214, marked a milestone not only for Rotary but for corporate Uganda. With the formation of the Mapeera club, Centenary Bank becomes one of the few local banks to host its own Rotary club — a bold declaration of structured, long-term service.

Kasi emphasised that Centenary’s 15-year journey alongside the Rotary fraternity has been fueled by shared values.

“We partner with organisations that share our DNA,” he noted, underscoring the bond that continues to uplift communities across the country.

In a lighter moment that drew laughter and applause, the MD congratulated the new club and cheekily suggested that with such energy and ambition, they might one day grow into a District of their own.

A CLUB WITH PURPOSE

Speaking on behalf of District 9123, Charter President Micheal Jjingo, who also serves as General Manager Commercial Banking at Centenary Bank, described the chartering as a landmark for purpose-driven corporate clubs aligned with the mission of Rotary District 9213.

“Joining Rotary is a selfless act,” Jjingo said. “It is centred on community service rather than personal gain, with deliberate focus on professional fellowship and measurable, impactful outcomes.”

He paid tribute to the sponsorship clubs and mentors who shaped the journey to charter status, specifically acknowledging the unwavering support of the District Governor and Managing Director Fabian Kasi.

With confidence, Jjingo promised intentional membership growth, disciplined yet enjoyable fellowships, and steadfast dedication to Rotary’s core ideals.

GLOBAL PRAISE FROM ROTARY PRESIDENT

The Charter Day also received a global stamp of approval from Francesco Arezzo, President of Rotary International, who delivered an inspiring message anchored on his theme, “Unite for Good.”

He commended Ugandan clubs for embodying unity in action by effectively engaging communities, partners and local government to achieve relevant results.

Arezzo highlighted Uganda’s impactful Rotary legacy, singling out the Blood Bank initiative and projects at Kawempe National Referral Hospital as shining examples of service through Rotary District 9213 and Rotary District 9214.

He urged members to “catch their moment,” noting that the district possesses the leadership strength required to reach even greater heights.

Expressing admiration for the passion of Ugandan Rotarians, Arezzo said he hopes to return in future to celebrate even bigger milestones.

The birth of the Rotary Club of Mapeera is more than ceremonial. It represents a structured alliance between corporate leadership and humanitarian service — a model that blends financial expertise with grassroots impact.
