CHAN-bound Uganda Cranes are still battling for Vipers SC right back Nicholas Wadada to be fit in time for the continental tournament in South Africa.

WadadaThe Vipers defender, Red Pepper Online edition has gathered is still nursing a wound after he got involved in a bodaboda accident and he has not trained since last Friday.

It could have got a lot worse for the team after Friday evening’s training session as one of the players Ayub Kisaalita survived an accident when the bodaboda he was travelling on was almost knocked from behind by a reckless driver at Kireka as he travelled back home.

Wadada again did not train with the rest of the squad on Sunday  as he watched from the sidelines.

He is one of the established players in the home-based Cranes squad and even featured at the CECAFA Senior Challenge cup in Nairobi less than a fortnight back.

Meanwhile, Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic is delighted to have SC Victoria University captain Denis Guma back in line for Chan duty. The defender has been out of competitive football for the last two months recovering from an ankle injury, was expected to be on the side-lines recovering from an operation he was due to undergo in Dubai.

“I am happy that Iguma is back. That gives me good cover. I can begin drafting my side. At the moment, all that I am trying to do in the next few days is improve the players’ fitness levels,” Micho told reporters on Sunday.
