Cranes To Face Mali, Zimbabwe & Zambia In 2016 CHAN

The draws for the 2016 African Nations Championship to be held in Rwanda have been conducted with Uganda pooled in Group D.

Uganda will be playing alongside Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mali.

Uganda will be in a group opener against West African side, Mali on January 19, before playing Zambia on January 23, and against Zimbabwe on January 27 in closing group match.

Uganda played Zimbabwe during the 2014 CHAN edition where the Cranes drew with the Southern outfits in a goalless score.

This will be Uganda’s first time to face Zambia and Mali at the championship.

The draws witnessed the attendance of Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame and delegates from the Confederation of African Football.

Paul Kagame who conducted the first draw picking giants Ivory Coast a side Rwanda is to play on January 17.

At the tournament, Group A will be based at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Group B in Butare, Group C at the Nyamirambo Stadium, also in Kigali with Gisenyi hosting Group D where the Cranes fall.

Pool D: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Uganda, Mali
