The recruits are expected to administer electoral activities in the Sub-County, conduct voter education in the Sub-Counties and issuing voter identification cards.

They are also expected to update the voters’ register, mobilize new voters for registration and conduct the voter’s registration exercise.

Jotham Taremwa, the Principal Electoral Commission Spokesperson said that the recruitment exercise, which started early this month is ongoing.

Taremwa said that in addition to helping in the supervising the electoral process, the recruits will also help the internal affairs ministry to issue National Identity cards.

Recently, Dr. Kizza Besigye, the former FDC president announced his intentions not to contest in the 2016 general elections claiming it is already rigged in favor of President Yoweri Museveni.

He called for the disbandment of the Electoral Commission for alleged incompetence.

  1. But why issue voter’s card? Support the National IDs and you will use those. Unless you have vested interest in the voter’s cards.

  2. The EC is incompetent. 2016 is already a failed election if we do not get a new independent electoral commission.

  3. Why recruit more people when we already have NRM village committees. GISOs, and DISOs, and NRM Secretariat
