Express FC Ready for Cecafa Kagame Club Championships

Uganda’s representatives in the 2013 Cecafa Kagame Club Championships, Express FC have indicated their readiness for the regional event.

Club President, Bbale Mugera told the media that that although his team did not perform well after finishing 11th in the just concluded league, they are ready to prove themselves in the regional event.

The tournament that attracts league champions of the respective Cecafa member states and a few guest sides will take place June 18 to July 2 in the Sudan states of Northern Darfur and South Kordofan.

Mugera explained that to show seriousness ahead of the tournament, they are in talks to sign a high profile coach who will handle the team in the two week event. Express FC who won the Ugandan league title in the 2011/12 season are grouped alongside Djibouti’s Ports, Vital’O (Burundi) and defending champions Young Africans of Tanzania.

The Club President said the tournament will help them prepare well for the new season and also examine whether some players could be released and more recruitment made. Express FC is one of Uganda’s oldest clubs.
