FIDA wants Kibuule’s assault case Probed

The Uganda Association of Women Lawyers, FIDA has condemned the alleged assault of a female security guard by the state Minister of water Ronald Kibuule.

Ms Hellen Obuku who was allegedly assaulted by Min. Kibuule at Stanbic Bank branch in Mukono is an employee of Security Group Africa.

It is alleged that Kibuule beat her up as she insisted that he undergoes a routine security check at the bank and thereafter ordered for her arrest in which she collapsed while being taken to Police to record a statement.

Mercy Munduru the FIDA advocacy officer said nobody is above the law whether a cabinet minister or not and called upon the police to do its work and investigate the matter.

“Nobody is above the law regardless of who the perpetrator is, even if he is a cabinet minister, he must be investigated and must face the higher hand of the law,” Munduru said.

The guard opened an assault case against Kibuule despite him denying accusations of beating and ordering for her arrest saying she is mentally ill.

“She has a mental problem; that is what the police told me. I didn’t call the DPC, it was some other man, whom she also harassed that called police,” he said.
