Govt earmarks UGX300M to renovate Mparo Health Centre
Rukiga – The Government, through the Ministry Of Health has allocated UGX300 million to renovate Mparo Health Center IV in Rukiga District.
According to a June 10 letter sanctioned by the Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the money was allocated following a formal request to the Ministry by the Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi.
Kamusiime had written to the ministry, highlighting the dilapidated state of structures at Mparo and Kamwezi Health centres that required upgrading and renovation to function effectively as health centre IV.
Dr Aceng indicated in the letter that the Ministry will continue to mobilize resources through budget and grant guidelines to ensure that the facilities are functional.
Frederick Ssemwogerere, the Rukiga district Chief Administrative Officer said that once the district receives the funds, it will facilitate in the expansion and rehabilitation of the facility.
Dr Alexander Kampikaho the Rukiga LC5 says that as the district they passed in the district council that Mparo health center IV to be elevated to a district hospital as they even wrote to the ministry of health .
While on a visit at Butanda Health Center III recently, David Bahati, the state Minister of Finance for Planning challenged the new districts of Rukiga and Rubanda need to write to the ministry of finance so that government can support upgrading some health centres to district hospital status
“The NRM government is focused to see through that every district gets a district hospital,” Bahati said.
