Gun-wielding Thugs Shoot Pump Attendant

Kikuube | RedPepper Digital – Unidentified assailants have shot dead a pump attendant in Kikuube district, western Uganda.

The deceased has been identified as Passia Karuna, 26, an employee of Pastor Petrol station located in Kasonga trading center in Kyangwali sub-county.   

He was shot twice in the chest and neck killing him instantly. It is alleged that the two assailants armed with an AK-47 rifle raided the pump fuel station around 8:30 pm on Tuesday and placed Karuna at gunpoint before ordering him to surrender all the money he had on him.  

After taking the money, the assailants shot the pump attendant dead and fled to an unknown destination. They fired several bullets as they fled from the crime scene. Twahikya Arinda, a resident explains that the two thugs riding on a motorcycle disguised as clients who wanted to buy fuel to lure their victim.   

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, says that a team of investigators from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Chieftainance of Military Intelligence (CMI), and the police are on the ground to track down the thugs.

He says police have cordoned off the crime scene. The deceased’s body is lying at Kyangwali health centre IV pending post-mortem. He calls on the public to cooperate with security by availing them of vital information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects.
