After beating Nabisunsa Girls 64-80 on Friday evening at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala, JKL Lady Dolphins have completed the first round of the Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) unbeaten in the women’s division.
JKL Lady Dolphins are the only perfect side across all top tier divisions (men and women) and are bound to retain the women’s title, which will be their third national championship.
Brenda Ekone lead JKL with 37 points on 14-of-31 and added 9 rebounds.
Hope Gimono was another top performer for JKL Lady Dolphins shooting 14 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist.
Nabisunsa had a dream start to the game as they led 23-9 in the first quarter. Their dominance ended there (first quarter) as JKL took charge of the game in the other three quarters.
After JKL regrouped in the second quarter, Nabisunsa only managed nine points as the former led 37-32 at halftime.
In a losing effort, Priscilla Nambogo and Patience Karungi led the secondary school side with 17 and 14 rebounds respectively.
JKL top the 10-team women’s division table with 18 points whilst Nabisunsa who return to action this afternoon are at the rock bottom with just one win.
The first round of the Tusker Lite National Basketball League winds down today, May 28th with two games on the card, action will be at YMCA basketball court in Wandegeya, Kampala.
The second round of the season tips off on Friday, June with teams set to start pursuit for playoffs slots and survival.
