Kampala Music School, Autumn Studios Launch Unique Training Programme

The Kampala Music School has partnered with Autumn Studios to launch a training programme in Kampala that integrates dance and music training.

Mr. Kiggundu Musoke, the KMS Director officially opened the event, the first of its kind for the first group of students on August 29th 2016.

“There are many people out there looking for a place in which to learn both disciplines. Also Kampala Music School becomes within easier reach for people living in the Makindye, Gaba, Kansanga, Luwafu and Munyonyo areas,” Mr. Musoke said

He added that the initiative would help tap into the rich talents in the music sector that need formal training in music and dance.

“We believe that no talent should go to waste and that why we are going to develop the talents through the new initiative,” he said.

He also announced that the school is accepting applications for the September intake, a programme that seeks to engage children on holiday.

“Most parents who have enrolled their children in to the holiday programme have given us positive feedback that it’s a more creative way of keeping their children busy,” Musoke revealed.

Kampala Music School was founded in 2001 in cramped space at the YMCA and has moved into its own home in Kitante to accommodate its current services and future developments. As well as continuing to inspire and teach many more students with its music program that caters for all ages and backgrounds, from beginners to professional levels.

It encourages and facilitates music teachers and performers across Uganda in addition to providing space and music instruments and organizing solo and ensemble concerts and operas for students and visiting artists.

The facilities are beginning to attract more students from abroad, thus emphasizing its regional role. Plans are also well underway to develop further the outreach of KMS into both Ugandan and International schools with instrumental teaching and Music Therapy.
