Kato Lubwama To Appeal Against Court Ruling Allowing His Tormentor To File A Petition

The Lubaga South MP, Paulo Kato Lubwama has vowed to appeal against High court ruling permitting his tormentor Habib Buwembo permission to file a petition challenging his legality to be in parliament.

High Court in Kampala presided over by Justice Margaret Oumo Oguli has today ruled that Buwembo be allowed to petition against Lubwama even if it’s the past stipulated time by law.

According to Lubwama, the ruling was unjust and is appealing against it.

“We are appealing on this decision they have taken, I don’t know why our friends are fearing the appeal. Definitely the war is just starting.” Lubwama threatened.

It’s worth noting that a few months ago, Buwembo, through the Center for Legal Aid (CLA) dragged Lubwama to court claiming that he lacks the minimum academic qualifications to be a legislator.

Buwembo claims that Lubwama failed his O-level exams and was not awarded a UNEB certificate, and therefore, the diploma he claims he got from Makerere University is null and void.

Due to the fact that Buwembo learnt about this past the stipulated time of filing election petitions, he went to court seeking an order to file a petition out of the stipulated time frame set by law.

Law allows one to file a petition against an elected leader within 30 days from the date of an election.

Buwembo however told court he could not file the petition within 30 days because he did not have the money to hire an advocate as well as court fees to file the petition.
