Khartoum:

El Merriekh 2- 1 KCC FC

KCC FC preparations for the CAF Champions league started on a bad note as the reigning league champions suffered a 2-1 defeat to El Merriekh in a friendly match last night.

Birungi

Michael Birungi came off the bench after Yasin Mugme was substituted to salvage a goal for his team in the second half.

Allan Wanga and Bakri Almadina put El Merriekh in the driving seat before half time.

El Merriekh did not have 26 year old forward Mohammed Traore who is currently in Equatorial Guinea for the AFCON championship  but that did not deter the hosts from cruising past KCC FC.

None of the KCC FC new signings played the game as they all watched from the bench.

KCC FC will return to Uganda and continue preparations to face Sudan U-23 side not El Hilal as earlier scheduled.

The game will be played on Saturday Jan 24, at Phillip Omondi Stadium and Coach Abdullah Mubiru is expected to be on the touchline having missed the Sudan trip as he was undergoing a coaching course at Njeru Technical center.

The trio of Martin Kiiza, Rogers Lukwiya and Simon Mbazira hope to be recalled into the team after being dropped.

KCC FC will represent Uganda at this year’s CAF Champions league next month when they play Cameroonian side Cosmos De Bafia in the preliminary stages.
