Kitagata Hospital On The Verge Of Collapse
Uganda’s health system has always formed a basis for the opposition’s criticism of the goverment. The two were last year locked in a stand-off as the former wanted budgetary funds increased for the sector while government seemed uninterested and instead wanted more funds for the defense ministry.
Our very own Johnson Musinguzi visited Kitagata Hospital located in Ruhinda County, Sheema District, western Uganda and what he found was appalling.
The hospital whose structures and facilities is a demonstration of how the government pays lip service to the health sector and leave a lot to be desired about the government’s commitment to improve the health of ordinary Ugandans.
Even though it is administered by the Ministry of Health, wasps, birds, cob webs have turned this once glorious health unit into their habitat.
The toilets whose flashing system no longer works, torn mattresses, broken wheel chairs in the hospital tell the visual story of a deserted life giver.
