Uganda national senior team batsman Arthur Kyobe on Sunday recorded a hallmark in the Division One Multiple Industries National Cricket League when he on Sunday hit first century since its inception.
But Kyobe played a hold-it-together innings and showed his penchant for the big moment with an innings-transforming 129-ball 116 to set Charity a tricky target of 157 in 41.2 overs inspiring Tornado to a fifth successive victory at Entebbe Oval.
Charity fresh from a shock 75-run win over Wanderers seven days back inspired by captain Jonathan Ssebbanja looked resilient in the early stages of the game but eventually fell to Kyobe’s mastery that took him to the top of the batting chart with 261 runs.
Ssebbanja (30) and Jackson Ogwang (12) the only batsmen to reach double figures for Charity.
In the other fixture at Lugogo, Tornado B ended the first round unbeaten with a commanding 74-run win over Nile to send them to sixth place on the 8-team log while Tornado B remain atop with 41 points after the first round, 11 more than champions Tornado.
