President Yoweri Museveni who arrived yesterday in Kigali Rwanda for a 2-day visit, will today join his host President Paul Kagame in celebrations marking the ruling party,  the Rwanda Patriotic Front’s 25th  anniversary.

The ceremony, taking place at Amahoro Stadium, will mark the end of a week long series of events which included a national dialogue of Rwanda’s development (Umushikyirano), a conference on liberation and the launch of the RPF museum, among other things.

Hundreds of high profile Ugandans and several dignitaries from around the world are expected to attend.

Red Pepper Online has seen Uganda’s Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt. Gen Ivan Koreta as well as businessman Barnabas Taremwa around Kigali.

Led by Kagame, The RPF took power in Kigali in 1994 following a guerrilla war launched by Rwandans especially those who had been forced into exile in neighboring Uganda for nearly 30 years.

Formed in Uganda in 1987 after taking part in Uganda’s liberation struggle, the RPF being joined by the neighbors in celebrations confirms the long held view that it had it roots there.

  1. Dear President Museveni,
It’s an honor to be with you during this 25 year anniversary of RPF. This and other trips you have made to Rwanda truly and clearly demonstrated to us Rwandan that:
    1. “friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest… It’s about who came, and never left your side…”
    2. a friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.
    3. a real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out”
    Dear Rwandans,
There comes a point in our lives when we realize who really matters, who never did, and who always will.

    Nice cerebrations
