Police at the Entebbe International Airport arrested Odinamad Okechukwu a 44 year old Nigerian with a Nigerian Passport No. A5051629 and was apprehended with his consignment.

The suspect was arrested by the security at the Old Baggage after the police sniffer dogs smoked him out by detecting narcotic substances in his luggage.

Fred Enanga the Police spokesperson said that Okwechukwu had two sealed khaki packages containing polythene bags which were found with cocaine inserted in his two suit cases.

The suspect however claimed that he had no knowledge of the narcotic substances in his bags.

He maintained that the packages were given to him by an unidentified person travelling in an unidentified motor vehicle to deliver them to a contact in Nigeria.

Enanga said that the suspect is detained at the aviation police station as investigations continue.

This comes after a police operation in Kisenyi unearthed a deeply rooted cartel of drug dealers that have mad cocaine and heroin turn into a common phenomenon on the streets of Kampala.
