Nsimbe1Kampala City Capital Authority FC head coach George Best Nsimbe will hope to get off to a winning start in next year’s Champions League when they clash with Sudan’s’s El Merrick in the prelims.
The Uganda champions are back in international football after a three-year absence.
And the coach has told Red Pepper Online edition they hope to get off to a flying start when they travel to Khartoum for the first leg of the competition on the weekend of February 7 and Nsimbe noted that it was an advantage for his side to play the first leg away.
“We are preparing hard for the game, we will do all to beat El Merrick,” Nsimbe said.
“I played against the club in In 2009 with Merreikh progressing 2-1 on aggregate after playing out to a 1-1 draw in Sudan. Back then we did not prepare well psychologically. We did not have the facilities KCCA gives us now. It will be a different case altogether,” Nsimbe added. The winner between KCC FC and El Merreikh will meet the winner between Mbabane Swallows (Swaziland) and Nkana FC (Zambia) in the second round.
